NAIA Artcicle V, Section B - General Eligibility
Point University certifies all student-athletes in accordance with NAIA Article V eligibility requirements prior to participation in intercollegiate competition. Eligibility certification is conducted each term and applies to every student-athlete listed on an official roster.
To be eligible for competition, student-athletes must:

Be enrolled as a full-time student as defined by the institution

Meet NAIA academic progress requirements (including applicable credit-hour and GPA standards)

Maintain amateur status under NAIA regulations
-
Comply with season of competition and identification limits
-
Meet transfer and residency requirements, if applicable
NAIA Article V, Section C - Amateurism
A student-athlete must maintain amateur standing to be eligible for intercollegiate competition.
Under NAIA rules, a student-athlete may lose amateur status by:

Signing or verbally agreeing to a professional contract

Receiving compensation beyond actual and necessary expenses for participation

Competing on a professional team beyond permissible allowances
-
Accepting impermissible benefits tied to athletic participation
-
Allowing the use of their name, image, or likeness in a manner inconsistent with NAIA amateurism rules
NAIA Article V, Section D - Season of Competition
A student-athlete must retain eligibility for each season of participation to compete in intercollegiate athletics.
Under NAIA rules, a student-athlete is charged a season of competition if they:

Participate in more than 20% of the maximum allowable contests or dates in a sport during the defined season

Participate in postseason competition (regardless of regular-season participation)

Compete on an intercollegiate team at a professional or semi-professional level outside NAIA allowances
NAIA Article V, Section F - Transfer Students
A student-athlete transferring from another institution must meet NAIA transfer requirements to be eligible for intercollegiate competition.
Under NAIA rules, transfer eligibility is affected by:

Academic standing at the previous institution (minimum cumulative GPA from all previous instututions and progress toward degree requirements met)

Enrollment status and continuous full-time enrollment at the prior institution

Participation history, including seasons of competition previously completed

Completion of any applicable NAIA-required residency periods
NAIA Article V, Section G - Progress Rule
A student-athlete must meet NAIA academic progress requirements to maintain continuing eligibility for intercollegiate competition.
Under NAIA rules, continuing eligibility is contingent upon:

Maintaining a 2.0 cumulative GPA

Completing 24 credit hours over the previous two full-time terms of attendance

Maintaining progress toward degree requirements (See table below)
