Wendy Espejel is hired as Women's Assistant Soccer Coach
The women's soccer program is proud to announce the addition of Wendy Espejel to their staff.
Wendy is coming from Bourbonnais, Ill., where she is graduating this May with a Bachelor of Exercise Science and a second degree in Spanish from Olivet Nazarene University. Wendy, who played four years at ONU as a goalie, was named MVP her junior year. She also set records at
ONU and in the Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference with 0 goals scored against her although many conference teams attempted. Wendy is a two-time First Team All-Conference member and a two-time All-American. Wendy has also played on the women's Mexican National Team where she has traveled extensively. She has been a goalkeeper coach for many teams such as United Select Soccer Association, Los Gauchos Soccer Club and Mexican Women's National Team camps.
Coach Douglas says of Wendy, "Wendy brings National Team Experience along with the experience of playing in two NAIA national tournaments. She did really well in her training session, and she has the ability to learn quickly and really step in to help lead the team to success right away. She is eager and I think is the absolute best fit for the Point University Women's Soccer Program."
"I am really excited to join the coaching staff at Point University and be a part of a growing program. I know God has placed me where I need to be, and I cannot wait to share my love for the game with the team" says Wendy Espejel.
