Point University Inducts Four into Athletics Hall of Fame During Homecoming 2025
October 24, 2025 | West Point, Georgia — Point University proudly celebrated its 2025 Athletics Hall of Fame induction during a special luncheon held Friday afternoon as part of Homecoming weekend. Four remarkable individuals — Leah Schnell ’01, Heather Bolton Suber ’02, Dr. Ralph Swearngin, and Sarah Grimes Wiggins ’93 — were officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their outstanding athletic achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions to Point University and beyond.
This year’s honorees represent the second class to be inducted since the Athletics Hall of Fame was established in May 2024, when six inaugural members were recognized.
Program and Order of Events
The luncheon began with a welcome from Andrew Welch, followed by the invocation led by Illya Lawrence Sr., assistant vice president of Student Life and Athletics.
Guests enjoyed a meal provided by Sage Dining Services, after which Jaunelle White, vice president of intercollegiate athletics, presented the Hall of Fame overview.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Stacy Bartlett, president of Point University, who congratulated the inductees and reflected on the legacy of excellence they represent within Skyhawk athletics.
2025 Hall of Fame Inductees
Leah Schnell ’01
Schnell attended Atlanta Christian College from 1998 to 2001, earning a degree in business while competing in both basketball and volleyball. On the basketball court, she earned First Team All-Conference, Scholar Athlete, and First Team All-American honors for three consecutive years. Schnell also held the title of all-time leading scorer during her collegiate career. Today, she serves as a commercial construction project manager with Barnsley Construction Group and is an entrepreneur.
Heather Bolton Suber ’02
A native of Havana, Florida, Suber was a two-sport athlete at ACC from 1998 to 2002. She earned numerous accolades, including First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Conference, Honorable Mention, and First Team All-American honors. One of her most memorable moments came when she made eleven three-pointers in a single game. Suber earned a degree in early childhood education, followed by a master’s in education and a specialist degree in instructional technology. She has served as a dedicated educator for more than 23 years.
Dr. Ralph Swearngin
Dr. Swearngin’s career in education, athletics, and ministry has spanned several decades, including 20 years at ACC as professor, dean of students, athletics director, and coach. He has also held national leadership positions within the NCCAA, served as a Point University trustee for more than 10 years, and worked extensively in ministry and education in California. Swearngin earned degrees from Whittier College and Georgia State University. His athletic involvement includes 23 years as a high school football official in California and Georgia, 22 years with the Georgia High School Association — retiring as executive director in 2014 — and service on national football and softball rules committees. A multiple Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Atlanta Falcons Lifetime Achievement Award, Swearngin is also an author and remains active in retirement through preaching and leading Bible studies with his wife of 58 years, Evelyn.
Sarah Grimes Wiggins ’93
Wiggins, a Roswell, Georgia native, began playing basketball at age ten. After two years at Florida State University, she transferred to ACC in 1990, where she became a standout player. Wiggins earned All-American honors in both 1991 and 1992, leading her team in scoring during her senior year and helping them finish second in the nation. That same year, she was named National MVP. Wiggins earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1993 and later a master’s degree in technology and media sciences from Georgia Southern University in 2009. A lifelong educator with 33 years of experience, she and her husband, Todd, have two children, Preston (26) and Logan (22).
The 2025 induction ceremony was a highlight of Homecoming weekend, as alumni, students, and friends gathered to celebrate the accomplishments and legacy of these outstanding honorees. Their dedication, sportsmanship, and service continue to inspire the next generation of Skyhawks.
