Point University Baseball Falls to William Carey in Hattiesburg
Hattiesburg, MS (March 7-8, 2025)- The Point University baseball team traveled to William Carey University in a Southern States Athletic Conference three game weekend series where the Skyhawks got swept 3-0 by the Crusaders.
Game 1 (loss 21-9)
In a high-scoring conference clash, Point University's baseball team faced a tough defeat against the William Carey Crusaders despite the Skyhawks' spirited performance.
Highlighting the event for Point was Zavion Anderson, who not only scored a run but also contributed an RBI and a home run in the 2nd inning. This was a key moment for the Skyhawks, alongside their scoring spree of 6 runs in the 4th inning.
The star performers for Point University included Brady Bye and Sam Baker, each scoring 2 runs, and Danny Gonzalez and Rafael Jackson each adding 2 RBIs. Despite these efforts, Point University couldn't hold the Crusaders' offense.
Game 2 (loss 8-0)
During game two, Point University fell to the William Carey Crusaders with a final score of 8-0 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Skyhawks faced a tough opponent in the Crusaders, who managed to keep the Skyhawks scoreless. Harris Burns, the starting pitcher for the Skyhawks, took the mound in an effort to stave off William Carey's aggressive offense. Despite his efforts and the team's determination, the Crusaders' persevered.
Game 3 (loss 7-2)
On March 8, 2025, the Skyhawks battled in game three against the Crusaders ultimately falling 7-2.
The Skyhawks saw significant contributions from several players. Michael Buckley stood out with two hits and two stolen bases, showcasing his speed and batting skills. Jaden Mazzaferro also impressed with three hits during the game, proving to be a reliable force at the plate. Additionally, Zavion Anderson contributed by not only scoring a run but also driving in the team's sole RBI of the day. Rafael Jackson, maintaining discipline and earned three walks.
Maxime Beaulieu, the starting pitcher for the Skyhawks, faced tough opposition but managed to deliver a commendable performance under pressure.
