Skyhawks Score Seven in Second Inning to Beat Brewton-Parker 11-5

WEST POINT, Ga. – The Point University Skyhawks put the game away early on Friday evening, plating nine runs across the first two innings to beat the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons 11-5 at West Point Park.

In the first inning, Garrison Coleman scored on a wild pitch for the game's first run, and Damian Hernandez followed with an RBI groundout to bring home Arwin Burgos and make it 2-0. The Skyhawks then went ahead for good in the second, piling up seven more runs for a 9-0 lead. That sequence included a bases-clearing 3-RBI double from Brady Bye, and Divido added more damage with a two-run homer after a pitching change.

The Skyhawks 11 runs came by way of 13 hits and five stolen bases. Bye went 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs, while Divido concluded the game with two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Point added another run in the fifth when Bailey Stroud brought home Divido on a groundout, pushing the lead to 10-2. Their final run came in the eighth inning when Coleman hustled home on a wild pitch for the second time of the night.

It was a job well done on the mound for Skyhawks starting pitcher Vittorio Iacobucci. He earned the win after five innings, allowing one hit, striking out five and walking two. Houston Wedgeworth, Jack Teague and Garrett Mullins each entered after him to pitch at least a full inning.

The Skyhawks will try to repeat today's success tomorrow against Brewton-Parker in a 1:00pm EDT doubleheader at West Point Park.
