Skyhawks Battle at the Plate in 10–7 Loss to ABAC

TIFTON, Ga. – Although they raced back from a three-run deficit and claimed a late lead on Friday night, the Point University Skyhawks went cold in the final innings of their series-opening 10-7 loss against the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions at ABAC Stallion Field.

The deciding moments came after Point tied the game at 7-7 on Jonathan Kohlman's pinch-hit RBI single in the seventh. Abraham Baldwin responded in the bottom of the inning when Cameron Campbell launched a go-ahead solo home run to right, then Quinten Rawls added a two-run single later in the frame to restore control. That three-run burst gave Abraham Baldwin the final advantage after a back-and-forth game that featured 17 total runs.

Point's offense worked enough men on base to stay in the game all evening, finishing with 14 hits and five doubles. Garrison Coleman led the way with a 4-for-5 night that included a double and a run scored. Jackson Divido went 2-for-5 and delivered one of the Skyhawks' biggest at-bats of the night, a two-run double to right in the third inning that helped undo a 4-1 deficit. Brady Bye also contributed with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI as Point pieced together scoring innings in the second, third, fourth and seventh.

After Abraham Baldwin broke through for four runs in the second, Point showed resilience with three in the third to tie the game at 4-4. Divido's double was the central hit in that rally, and the Skyhawks kept pressing despite leaving 11 runners on base. Point added another run in the fourth and later scored twice in the seventh to draw even again.

Seven out of the starting nine for the Skyhawks made contact for hits. Kohlman and Dylan Lindsey were both 1-1 after entering from the bench.

Skyhawks pitcher Vittorio Iacobucci went half of the game on the mound, ending with four strikeouts and four walks. The Stallions were able to bat six runs and six hits while he threw.

Point will spend one more day in Tifton to compete in a doubleheader against Abraham Baldwin tomorrow at 1:00 and 4:00pm EDT.
