Strickland Honored as 1st Team All-NCCAA
Local standout, David Strickland (Valley, Ala.) has been honored as the first Point University football player to be selected as 1st Team All-NCCAA (Defense). As only a freshman, Strickland ranked 14th nationally as a punter. As one of the best in the country, Strickland averaged 40.2
yards a punt on 50 punts during the inaugural football season for the Skyhawks. On only 50 punts, he totaled a phenomenal 2,009 yards.
''I was shocked to receive this honor, especially being a freshman. These honors are usually awarded to upperclassmen, and to be honored with this as a freshmen, I am truly blessed,'' stated Strickland.
Point University fans will have the opportunity to see one of the nation's best punters in action again this fall, as Strickland enters his sophomore season for the Skyhawks.
