Point University Football Announces 2018 Schedule

WEST POINT, Ga. – Led by third-year head coach Julius Dixon, the Skyhawks look to improve after a 2017 season in which they finished with records of 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the MidSouth Conference Appalachian Division. CLICK HERE TO VIEW 2018 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

The Skyhawks began the season with a 10-7 win at Webber International (Fla.); edged University of Pikeville, 34-31; and defeated Ave Maria on Point's Senior Day, 40-17. Point also lost a close 36-33 contest at home to Bluefield College (6-5; 4-2 MSC Appalachian) which placed second in the Appalachian Division behind NAIA National Champion Reinhardt University (12-1; 6-0 MSC Appalachian)

The Skyhawks play five home games at Ram Stadium in Valley, Alabama, and six games on the road. The conference season includes six MSC Appalachian Division clashes, three at home and three on the road, and the Skyhawks also play four MSC interdivisional games, two against Sun Division opponents and two against Bluegrass Division teams.

Point kicks off its 2018 season with an inter-divisional game at Ave Maria (2-8; 1-4 MSC Sun), Saturday, August 25, at 11 a.m., and returns to Florida the next weekend for a non-conference game at Stetson University (2-9; 1-7 PAC), an NCAA Division I opponent from the Pioneer Football League, Saturday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m., the first of two night games on Point's 2018 schedule.

The Skyhawks host the next two games at Ram Stadium in Valley, Ala. Point meets Edward Waters College (0-10; 0-5 MSC Sun) from the MSC Sun Division, Saturday, Sept. 8, at 1:30 p.m., and plays its Homecoming Game on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1:30 p.m., against Kentucky Christian University (1-10; 1-5 MSC Bluegrass)

The Skyhawks hit the road to take on Campbellsville University from Kentucky (8-2; 4-2 MSC Bluegrass), Sept. 22, at 1:30 p.m., which ranked number 20 in the final NAIA National Coaches' poll last season. Point hosts its first MidSouth Appalachian Division game of the season against University of Pikeville, Sept. 29, at 1:30 p.m.

The Skyhawks hit the road again on Saturday, Oct. 6, when they play at defending NAIA champion Reinhardt University on Ken White Field at University Stadium in Waleska, Ga., at 1:30 p.m.

Pont hosts University of the Cumberlands (6-4; 3-3 MSC Appalachian), Saturday, Oct. 13, in Ram Stadium at 1:30 p.m., for its first home game ever against the Patriots. Then Point plays a divisional game at St. Andrews University (2-8; 1-5 AAC), Saturday, Oct. 20, in Laurinburg, N.C., at 1:30 p.m. St. Andrews, a second-year program, put a damper on Point's Homecoming celebration with a 46-19 win in Ram Stadium last season.

After its Saturday, Oct. 27 bye week, Point closes out the regular season with its Senior Day divisional game against Union College (5-5; 3-3 MSC Appalachian), Saturday, Nov. 6, at 1:30 p.m., Point's first home game ever against the Bulldogs, and completes the regular season at Bluefield College, Saturday, Nov. 13, for the second night game on the schedule, a 6 p.m. divisional battle in Virginia.
