Skyhawks Conquer Alabama State 27-14 in Bounce Back Game
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After dropping a double overtime heartbreaker last Friday at Huntingdon, the Point University Skyhawks got redemption just one day later with a 27-14 win against the Alabama State University Hornets at ASU Stadium.
The Skyhawks defense had a statement game, recording six interceptions, including one taken to the house by Nyleigha Knighton. Keirra Thomas and Kenzie Phillian each had two pickoffs, with the final one produced by Chinera Shaheed.
Amara Davila served as Point's QB and fired three touchdown passes. The longest was 70 yards to Shaheed. Alejah Nathan and Zykierria Williams also got open to score.
Alabama State's Aubree Davis hooked with receiver Janiyah Oliver in both of their trips to the endzone, but it wasn't enough to overcome those six turnovers forced by the Skyhawks defense.
The victory bolsters Point's record to 4-2 as they turn their attention to a strong test ahead. Next, they do battle with the 6-0 Warner University Royals at 4:00pm EDT in Lake Wales, Florida.
