Phillian Has Stellar Defensive Day in Defeat to Keiser
WEST POINT, Ga. – Wide receiver and defensive back Kenzie Phillian picked off three passes and scored the Point University Skyhawks' only touchdown on Tuesday afternoon in a 35-7 loss against the Keiser University Seahawks at River Bowl Stadium.
Trailing 20-0 in the third quarter, Quarterback Corriah Williams located Phillian for an 18-yard touchdown. Nyleigha Knighton capped it off with a successful one-point conversion on a rush. Williams had 29 successful passes which totaled 164 yards. Point tried to work the ball down the field in small amounts, averaging 3.3 yards gained per play.
The Skyhawks defense did not allow any points in the third quarter and forced those three Phillian interceptions in the second, third and fourth respectively.
To add to her incredible outing, Phillian led the Point defense with eight tackles. Chinera Shaheed was the team's leader in yards gained with 60 after catching five passes.
For the Keiser Seahawks, Dakota Moberg showed a consistent presence with a team-high six receptions and 88 yards. She was credited with a touchdown along with Ashlea Klam, Olivia Rijo and Sophia Caprio. Quarterback Ava Wallace slung for 187 yards and went 17-32 as quarterback.
The Point Skyhawks' next opponent will be Florida Memorial University on Thursday, March 19. The Skyhawks will host them at 3:30pm on the campus of Lanett Junior High School in Lanett, Alabama.
