Men’s Soccer moves Win Streak to three with a road win over Pensacola Christian

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Sept. 12, 2024) - The Point University Men's Soccer returned to the pitch for a nonconference matchup against Pensacola Christian College where the Skyhawks prevailed to win over the Eagles with a final score of 3-2. 

The Eagles opened the first half by entering the scoring column first with a goal in the early going. Pensacola Christian continued their fast start in the first half by keeping Point's offense with zero and extending their lead to 2-0. The action picked up with Gihong Kang adding a goal for the Skyhawks to cut into the lead for Pensacola Christian. The momentum quickly shifted over to the Skyhawks with Hwijun Cho adding a goal and tying the game at 2-2. The Eagles looked to steal the joy away from the Skyhawks but could not get their offense going as they were held to five shots in the second half. Tommy Eskew showed that the lights were not too bright on his end as he added the game-winning goal to overcome the Eagles with a final score of 3-2.

Point outshot Pensacola Christian with 20 total shots and 13 on goal compared to the Eagles' 10 shots and five on goal. Gihong Kang, Hwijun Cho, and Tommy Eskew each scored a goal for the Skyhawks in the contest. In goal, Simon Niksch added two saves and helped the second-half shut out defensively for Point.
