Brett VanLeuven makes Program history as the first male Runner at Nationals for Point

MARIAN, Ind. (May 23, 2024) - The NAIA National Championships for Track and Field began on Wednesday, May 22nd in Marian, Indiana. Brett VanLeuven made history for the Point University Men's Track and Field team on Thursday, May 23rd where he competed in the 5000 Meter Race Walk. 

VanLeuven was the first ever Male Track and Field Runner in program history to qualify and compete at Nationals. The Sophomore from Warner Robins, Georgia was confident about his competing at Nationals throughout the 2023-24 year as he is also a member of the Men's Cross Country Team. Brett VanLeuven is a well-known Student-Athlete at Point University for his hard work, service to the school, and competitive drive. At the National Championships, VanLeuven placed 19th out of 23 in the 5000 Meter Race Walk at 27:09.54. The Sophomore has done something that has set the standard for the future of the program. VanLeuven can get used to having his presence on the National stage as he continues to get better through his young career.
