Point Softball adds All-Conference honors to their Storied Program

DECATUR, Ala. (May 1, 2024) - The Southern States Athletic Conference announced postseason awards at the SSAC Softball Banquet where Point Softball was featured in All-Conference, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic, and Champions of Character. 

First Team All-Conference: Tia Coleman  

The Senior from Mobile, Alabama earned her place on the First Team All-Conference which was well-deserved. Coleman added 43 hits, 10 runs, nine doubles, 23 RBIs, two home runs, .384 batting average, .417 On Base Percentage, and a .518 slugging percentage. Coleman was a reliable player in the infield that earned the trust of Coach Jennifer Tyler and Sarah Warren Bowles. Coleman's passion on the field was admired by her teammates and well-respected throughout the conference. Tia Coleman went from a newcomer during her Junior Year that was finding her way to a First Team All-Conference Player with Point Softball. 

All-Freshman Team: Alyssa Burrows 

The Freshman from Valley, Alabama opened her Collegiate Career where she gave up zero runs and followed with a SSAC Player of the Week honor. Burrows continued to grow as a starter in the circle as she faced a conference full of competitors where she held her own. In her first season, Alyssa Burrows added 69 strikeouts, a 6.21 ERA, and pitched 10 complete games. Burrows is a Student-Athlete that has an upside to grow even more through her career. 

Champions of Character: Wellsley Henderson 

The Senior from Smiths Station, Alabama has earned Champions of Character for how she exemplifies the five core values of Integrity, Respect, Sportsmanship, Servant Leadership, and Responsibility. Henderson is a true competitor on the Softball Field and a great representation of the Softball program and institution. Wellsley Henderson has created memories with the Skyhawks and is a well-respected Student-Athlete who has always worked for everything that has come her way. Henderson will be remembered for how she encourages her peers around her and is a workhorse.
