Point Softball Releases its 2025 Schedule
WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 26, 2024) - The Point University Softball team has announced its 2025 Season Schedule as the Skyhawks look to prepare for their 14th season as a program and their second year as a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Softball team will be led by Head Coach Jennifer Tyler who enters her 14th season at the helm and will be joined by a new face in Christina Ezell as the assistant coach. Coach Todd Striblin looks to make his return as the other Assistant Coach to help with the development of the players. Coach Jennifer Tyler enters the season with 10 returners and 11 newcomers on the roster with high anticipation of competing with some of the best teams in the SSAC and the NAIA.
February will bring in the new season with the Skyhawks opening their season in West Point, Georgia in a doubleheader against NCAA Division III Crosstown Rival, Lagrange College. Point will follow with traveling to South Carolina for a two-day tournament against opponents Rio Grande, Columbia International University, Spartanburg Methodist, and Columbia College. The month continues with the Skyhawks returning to the West Point Softball Park for a non-conference battle with NCAA Division II, Tuskegee University. The following matchups will continue to stay in non-conference play as the Skyhawks take on former Appalachian Athletic Conference foes, Bryan College at home and Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. The opening month will round off with the Softball team opening SSAC Play at home against Middle Georgia State University with Brewton-Parker College coming into town the following day.
March will see the Skyhawks make the wheels on the bus go round and round as Point continues SSAC Play with new NAIA member, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The Softball team will make their way to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the Gulf Shores Invitational with top teams in the NAIA such as Central Methodist (Mo.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Central Baptist (Ark.), and St. Xavier (Ill.). Road play in March will continue for the Skyhawks. The following five doubleheaders will feature matchups against Thomas University, Tuskegee University, William Carey University, University of Mobile, and Lagrange College. Point will round out the month of March with SSAC Doubleheaders against the University of Tennessee-Southern and Blue Mountain Christian University.
The Battle of I-85, Softball Edition, will commence as Point takes on Faulkner University in SSAC Play to open in April. The following day will see the Skyhawks back on their home field in a non-conference battle against former AAC Foe, Tennessee Wesleyan University. The final home game for the Softball team will take place against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College as part of their home and home series. Point will round out the 2025 season in road play with two consecutive in-state road trips to Cochran and Mount Vernon for matchups against Middle Georgia State University and Brewton-Parker College. The final regular season doubleheader will feature an SSAC Battle of the Hawks as Point takes on Thomas University. Point will look open the month of May with hopes of a deep postseason run which will begin at the SSAC Tournament in Decatur, Alabama. The Skyhawks look to make a run and make a name for themselves with hopes of going to the National Tournament and following with a trip to the NAIA Softball World Series in Columbus, Georgia.
