Point University Women's Softball Stumbles Against Bryan College in Non-Conference Battle

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 15th, 2025) - In a tough outing on Valentine's Day, the Point University Skyhawks Women's Softball team faced a challenging defeat against the Bryan College (TN) Lions in a double-header with a final score of 6-0 and 9-8. The non-conference contest saw the Skyhawks unable to fend off the strong offensive efforts from the Lions. 
 

Game One (6-0, Loss).  

In the first game, the Skyhawks, led by starting pitcher Chloe Mitcham, struggled to contain the Bryan College hitters, leading to the second shutout loss of the season. The game was crucial for building the team's dynamics and gearing up for the challenges ahead in the season. Despite the loss, the Skyhawks remain hopeful for a turnaround in upcoming games. 

Game Two (9-8, Loss) 

In the second game, the Point University Skyhawks faced a narrow defeat against the Bryan College Lions with a final score of 9-8. 
 
The Skyhawks, cheered on by their home crowd, showcased a valiant effort but fell just short in the closely fought contest. Notable performances included multiple players stepping up to the plate effectively. Isabella Owens, Savanna Bryant, Kacy Partridge, Brooke Burkett, and Abigail Todd each crossed the plate to contribute to the Skyhawks' total of eight runs. 
 
Brooke Burkett was particularly outstanding, driving in three runs, while her teammates Kendall Holbrook, MaKenzie Gilliland, and Kacy Partridge also contributed with RBIs. On the mound, Alyssa Burrows took the role of starting pitcher, battling fiercely against the Lions' lineup.

The next opportunity for the Point University women's softball team to bounce back will be on Tuesday, February 18th when they travel to Gainesville, Ga., to face Brenau with a double-header at 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. EST.
