Point Ends Day One Of Cola Classic Against Columbia College
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Point University softball team ended Day One of the Cola Classic Round Robin with a 9-0 loss to host Columbia College on Friday night. The game ended after six innings due to the run rule.
HOW IT HAPPENED

An RBI single in the first inning of play gave Columbia an early 1-0 lead.

Point loaded the bases with no outs on the scoreboard in the second inning, but three consecutive strikeouts ended the threat.

Columbia broke through for four runs on three hits and two PU errors in the third inning to build a 5-0 advantage.

A two-run fourth inning moved the Koala's lead to 7-0 before the hosts added two more runs in the top of the sixth.

The Skyhawks went down in order in the sixth to end the game via run rule.
NOTES

Sophomore MaKenzie Gilliland recorded the Skyhawks' only hit of the game, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate.

Freshman Avery Lee allowed just two runs (one earned) on one hit with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief.
