Gajdik's Gem Pushes Skyhawks to Victory Over Knights

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The second day of play at the Cola Classic Round Robin began with a 3-1 win over Kentucky Christian University for the Point University softball team on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• A two-run second inning would prove to be all the offensive production Point would need for a win as freshman Avery Lee got the scoring started with an RBI triple to right field.

•  An RBI single from senior Taylor Gajdik added a second run to the scoreboard for Point in the inning.

• The Knights scratched a run across in the fourth inning before the Skyhawks added an insurance run in the fifth with an RBI single through the left side by freshman Aubryn Sward.

• Gajdik was phenomenal in the circle, pitching a complete game three-hitter with 12 strikeouts for her first win of the year.

NOTES

• The 12 strikeouts marked a career-high total for Gajdik in her two seasons as a Skyhawk.

• Gajdik also led the offensive charge, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI.

• A total of six different Skyhawks recorded at least one hit in the victory, while Lee and Sward also had one RBI each.
