Skyhawks Unable to Plate Runners Against Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – The Point University Skyhawks played the first half of their four-game weekend on Friday afternoon, earning three hits across losses of 7-0 and 8-0 to the University of Mobile Rams.

Game One:

The Skyhawks knocked two hits against Mobile starter Avery Harrell, coming from Alexa McCoy and Sarah Hinely. Both of those came in the fifth inning, with Harrell pitching a perfect game until those moments. McCoy advanced to third base on Hinely's single, but the threat fizzled out on a two-out popup.

Point sent Alyssa Burrows and Kendall Holbrook into the circle. Burrows threw 3.1 innings, striking out two and surrendering nine hits before Holbrook took it the rest of the way. The Rams would go on to complete the game with 13 hits and a 7-0 final in the win column.

Game Two:

Mobile's Katelynn Kempton hurled five no-hit innings, but Laura Fendley ended the drought with Point's one hit in the matchup. The Skyhawks did get a runner on base beforehand with Alexa McCoy walking in the first inning and reaching on an error in the fourth.

Kempton struck out six Point batters, while the Skyhawks' Chloe Mitcham rung up three of her own. She absorbed all 12 hits for the Rams.

While remaining in Alabama, the Skyhawks will take a quick detour to William Carey University tomorrow, March 21 to play the Crusaders at 2:00 and 4:00pm EDT.
