Slow Starting Skyhawks Fall To Eagles

WEST POINT, GA - - A 30-point opening quarter by visiting Reinhardt propelled the school to an 87-52 women's basketball victory over Point Wednesday afternoon.

Twelve Eagles scored in the win, led by Emariah Grant who netted a team-best 12 points off the bench. The guard finished the game 5-of-6 from the field to spur a strong shooting effort by Reinhardt.

As a team, the Eagles made 48.6 percent of their field goal attempts while connecting on 8-of-16 shots from beyond the 3-point line.

Point was unable to recover from the strong opening quarter by the guests. Madison Nesbit led all players with 14 points in defeat, but the Skyhawks made just 17.6 percent of their 3-point attempts for the contest while shooting 32.1 percent overall.

Marquia White grabbed a game-best eight rebounds in the victory as Reinhardt won the battle of the boards 49-to-34. Alecia Donaldson scored seven points and corralled seven boards in the loss.

The Eagles depth played a big role in the triumph; Reinhardt tallied 52 bench points compared to 14 for Point in a game that saw the visitors lead 72-34 after three quarters of play.

Point will be off for the holiday season and return to play on Jan. 3 when Life comes to town for a 12 p.m. tip.
