Toppers Top Skyhawks Monday
WEST POINT - - Blue Mountain Christian opened up a 14-point halftime lead and cruised to a 73-44 women's basketball win over Point Monday evening. The Skyhawks shot just 29.5 percent from the floor, including a 2-for-13 showing from the 3-point line in defeat.
Kathyrn Echols led a quartet of Toppers in double figure scoring with 16 points while McKenzie Williams (13), Brooklyn Hodum (12) and Rebeca Walter (10) also had strong scoring nights in the win.
Blue Mountain Christian led 35-21 at the break behind a second quarter that saw the visitors shoot 50 percent from the floor. Walter (6) and Echol (5) had strong scoring performances in the second quarter as the Toppers built a commanding advantage.
Zariah Fannin scored 16 points in defeat with Azziza Flowers recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Williams led all players with 15 rebounds in the win as the Toppers won the battle of the glass 46-to-40.
Point will return to action Thursday at 5:30 when Mobile comes to town.
