Faulkner Uses Strong Opening Quarter To Defeat Point

WEST POINT - - A 30-point opening quarter propelled Faulkner to an 86-42 women's basketball victory over Point Saturday. Four Eagles scored in double figures, led by Morgan Holland-Dewitt's game-high 18 points as the visitors connected on 11 made 3-pointers.

Faulkner blistered the nets in the opening period by making 11-of-16 field goals. It was part of a 47.1 percent shooting day for the Eagles who improved to 16-7 on the season.

Point's Zariah Fannin scored a team-high 14 with Carmen Bridges (12) and Madison Nesbit (10) also reaching double figures.

Faulkner had a big rebounding day by winning the battle of the glass 52-to-25. Holland-Dewitt led all players with nine rebounds as the Eagles corralled 22 offensive rebounds.

The Skyhawks will look to grab their first win of the year Thursday when the team visits Thomas. Tip time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
