Women's Soccer Team Ranked Fourth in the Nation

With a record of 5-3-1, the Lady Chargers are ranked fourth overall in Division II of the NCCAA. In those nine games, the Lady Chargers have scored an impressive 30 goals with 26 assists.

So far this season, sophomore goalkeeper Amber Brenton (Cairo, Ga.) has earned 59 saves and two shutouts, and has only given up 15 goals. Brenton is currently ranked third in the nation among goalkeepers.

Junior Brandi Schock (Brandon, Fla.) is ranked ninth in the nation for points, having scored six in just eight games. Right behind Schock is freshman Wendy Mendoza (Palmetto, Ga.), who is ranked tenth and has scored eight goals in nine games. Senior Kara Banister (Stockbridge, Ga.) and junior Danielle Purvine (Powder Springs, Ga.) are also ranked in the top 20, having scored six and three goals, respectively, this season. Schock is also ranked fifth in the nation for assists, followed in the top 20 by Mendoza, Purvine and freshman Ashley Ventura (Tampa, Fla.).

With only a little more than a month left in the regular season, it seems that good things are ahead for the Point U women's soccer team -- and with so much young talent, the future for the women's soccer program as a whole looks very promising.
