Point Baseball falls to William Carey in final SSAC Tournament Game

JACKSON, Tenn. (May 3, 2024) - The Point University Baseball team returned to the field for their third game of the Southern States Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament against William Carey University where the Skyhawks fell to the Crusaders with a final score of 8-2. 

William Carey opened with the first run in the bottom of the second from a passed ball to lead 1-0 through the following five innings. Point opened the top of the seventh inning with a double to left field followed by a single from Rafael Jackson. Zeb Baird capped it with a Two-RBI single to advance Rafael Jackson and Hunter Neumayer home to take a 2-1 lead. The Crusaders added five runs with an RBI single, Two Doubles, and a Sacrifice Fly in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead with a score of 6-2. William Carey added two more runs from a Sacrifice fly and a balk while holding off the Skyhawks for a comeback and allowing zero hits in the final two innings for a final score of 8-2.

The Baseball Team wrapped up play at the SSAC Tournament and will look if their name will be called as one of the qualifiers for the NAIA Baseball Opening Round which will be announced on Thursday, May 9th.
