Point Baseball Faces Setback After Weekend Series against Johnson (TN) and ABAC
TIFTON, Ga. (Feb. 1-2, 2025) - The Point University Skyhawks traveled to Tifton, Georgia for a weekend series. To start off the series, on Saturday, the Skyhawks faced a tough challenge against the Johnson (TN) Royals. Despite a fiercely competitive effort, the Skyhawks fell short with a final score of 10-8 in favor of the Royals. Later that evening, the Skyhawks fell to Abraham Baldwin, with a final score of 4-1. The following day, Point faced a tough defeat, losing 11-1 against Johnson (TN).
Game One (10-8, Loss)
The Skyhawks faced a tough challenge against the Johnson (TN) Royals. Despite a fiercely competitive effort, the Skyhawks fell short with a final score of 10-8 in favor of the Royals.
The game saw multiple Point University players stepping up to the plate with commendable performances. Rafael Jackson particularly stood out by scoring two runs from just one hit, bolstering the team's fighting spirit. Jaden Mazzaferro matched this effort with two runs of his own from a single hit. Notably, Arwin Burgos, Michael Buckley, Chris Mancill, and Sam Baker each contributed a run, reflecting a well-rounded offensive effort by the Skyhawks.
Max Beaulieu, the starting pitcher for the Skyhawks, showcased his skills against a strong lineup. Game Three (11-1, Loss)
On Sunday, the Point University Skyhawks were unable to contain their opponents' offensive prowess and faced a tough defeat, losing 11-1 against Johnson (TN).
From the start, Johnson (TN) took a commanding lead and maintained it throughout the game. The Skyhawks' sole run came from Rafael Jackson, who not only scored but also hit a homerun.
Starting pitcher Houston Wedgeworth fought hard from the mound, but the strong lineup of Johnson (TN) proved too much on this occasion. Although the outcome was not what Point University hoped for, the game served as a learning experience for the team, testing their resilience and determination under challenging circumstances.
