Men's Basketball Falls on the Road to NCAA No. 6 UAH
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Point University men's basketball team fell 117-64 in an exhibition on the road to the NCAA Division II and sixth-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville late this afternoon. The Skyhawks had three players with 10 or more points, with Cahlib Edwards pacing all three with 17 points.
UAH jumped out to a 17-2 lead in less than six minutes to start the first half. Robert Harris connected on the first three-pointer of the game for Point, but the Chargers countered with one of their own. UAH pushed its lead to 30-9 with 11:24 remaining on the clock, but the Skyhawks chipped away at the lead to cut it in half and trail 30-15. The Chargers, after that, kept Point at arm's reach as they went on to take a 65-30 lead into the locker room at the half.
The Chargers came out of the locker room on a 6-0 run to push their lead to 71-30 in under two minutes into the half. Point attempted to claw its way back in the game, but the difference was too much to overcome as UAH went on to a 117-64 victory.
UAH was 15 of 19 from three-point in the first half, while going 22 of 39 for the game. The Chargers held the Skyhawks to 10 of 32 from beyond the arc for the contest.
Edwards, who tallied 17 points, was 6 of 14 from the floor and 2 of 4 from the arc. Teammate Harris led the team in threes with four to register 12 points for the contest.
Skyhawk Yuta Yamamoto finished with 10 points and shot 71.4 percent from the field. He dished out three assists and grabbed two boards in the process.
Both Jackson Ary and Brandon Kincaid each recorded four rebounds.
The Skyhawks travel to Talladega, Alabama, on Monday, December 1, to face Talladega College at 8:30 pm.
