Men's Basketball Falls to Life U.

WEST POINT, Ga. – Three players finished in double-figures for the Point University men's basketball team was not enough as it suffered a 105-84 loss to visiting Life University in Southern States Athletic Conference action this afternoon at home.

The Skyhawks are now 5-6 and 1-4 in the SSAC, while the Running Eagles improve to 12-3 and 5-0 in the conference.

Life started the game on a 16-2 run in the first five minutes, but a three-pointer from Point's Robert Harris and a jumper from Kenton Steele slashed the lead to 16-7 with just under 14 minutes on the clock. The Skyhawks cut the lead to 21-13 with 12:11 remaining in the half, but Life used an 11-2 run to push its lead to 32-15.  Both teams traded the next three baskets with Life in front 34-19, but neither team was able to connect for the next two minutes.  The Running Eagles kept Point at arm's reach as they took a 48-32 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room, Life tallied the first two baskets to lead 54-32. The Skyhawks answered with the following baskets, trailing 54-37 with 17:40 remaining on the clock.  Life controlled most of the second half as it pushed its lead to 68-53 with just under 13 minutes left and then increased it to 81-61 with just over nine minutes left in the contest. Life went on to capture the contest with a 105-84 victory.

Point shot 44.6% from the field, 30.8% from three, and 87.5% from the line as a team.

Life controlled the boards 35 to 27 with both teams grabbing six boards on the offensive glass.

Kenton Steele finished with a double-double, tallying 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He was 10 of 15 from the floor and led the team in steals with five.

Teammates Cahlib Edwards and Tanner Higgins each tallied double-digits in points. Edwards finished with 11, while Higgins tallied 10.

Kaden Paul was a perfect 4 of 4 from the line for Point. He finished with seven points on the day.

Harris led the Skyhawks with three three-pointers, as he went 3 of 3. He registered nine points for the game.

Point is back home on Thursday, Jan. 8, when it hosts Thomas at 7:30 p.m.
