Skyhawks Fall In Final Home Game of Season

WEST POINT, Ga. – The Point University men's basketball team's three-game winning streak came to an end on the final home game of the season in a 112-82 conference loss to Faulkner University. The Skyhawks are now 9-12 and 5-10 in the conference, while the Eagles move to 18-7 and 12-3. Point finished the home season with a 7-5 mark.

Point took an early 10-4 lead in the first two minutes and twenty-nine seconds to start the first half. The Eagles clawed back into it to cut the lead to two and trail 18-16, then a 5-2 run by Faulkner gave it a 21-20 lead. Faulkner was able to push its lead to 38-28 with 5:48 left in the half after using a 17-8 run.  Point was unable to get anything going for the remainder of the half as they were held to 11 points for the remaining minutes to trail 54-39 going into the locker room.

Faulkner added to its lead in the second half as they pushed it to 69-45 with 15:49 to go.  Point attempted to climb back into it, but the lead was too much to overcome as the Eagles increased their lead to 84-62. Faulkner, after that, never looked back as it went on to secure the victory.

Both Kenton Steele and Cahlib Edwards led the Skyhawks in points with 16. Steele grabbed eight boards in the process, while leading the team in field goals made with six.

D'Andre Jefferson finished with 13 points while going 4 of 5 from the field and 3 of 4 from three-point range. Teammates Kaden Paul and Yuta Yamamoto each registered 10 points of their own.

Point is on the road on Thursday, Feb. 12th, to face Thomas University at 7:30 p.m.
