Sillers Tallies Seven Points in Skyhawks 19-5 Win Over LaGrange College

LAGRANGE, Ga.– After facing an early 2-0 deficit, the Point University Skyhawks used a dominant second-quarter surge to break open a tight game and roll past the LaGrange College Panthers 19–5 on Saturday afternoon.

Leading 5–3 after the first, the Skyhawks seized control with an eight-goal second quarter that pushed the margin to 13–3 by halftime. That decisive run effectively settled the outcome, as Point continued to press in the third quarter with six more goals before LaGrange found the net late in the fourth to close the scoring.

Malyke Sillers headlined a steady Point attack with six goals and one assist for a seven-point performance, converting nine of his 10 shots on goal. He was one of three Skyhawks with a hat trick, joined by Rodney Oakley and Shaun McLaughlin.

Playmaking came from all over the offensive end. Jamison Cross chipped in a goal and a team-high three assists for a four-point outing, while Zachary Covey scored twice and handed out one assist. Cross helped spark Point in the opening quarter, scoring at 9:24 of the first off a feed from Aaron Mordaski to keep the Skyhawks in front. Later in the period, Oakley pushed the lead to 5–2 with a goal at 3:02, set up by Sillers.

During the Skyhawks' flurry of goals in the second quarter, Mordaski scored unassisted at 6:37 to extend the margin to 11–3, and Covey capped the eight-goal frame with a tally at 3:27 to make it 13–3 heading into the break. The Skyhawks continued to apply pressure in the third, with Oakley's goal at 7:11 increasing the score to 18–4 and Sillers later adding Point's final marker at 1:31 for a 19–4 cushion.

Statistically, Point's efficiency on offense overcame a deficit at the faceoff X. The Skyhawks outshot LaGrange 41–26 and put 32 attempts on goal, converting 19 times. Despite LaGrange holding an 18–11 advantage on faceoffs, Point generated extra possessions with a 17–13 edge in ground balls and turned those into sustained pressure in the offensive zone. Point's goalkeeping unit combined for 13 saves to secure the win. Whitman Prewitt, Jaden Colabine, Zachary Miller and Cooper Zimmerman each received repetitions in net.

As a result of the win, the Skyhawks have won four consecutive and look to build on that when they visit Oglethorpe University this Wednesday, March 4. The action begins at 6:00pm EST.
