Skyhawks Fall in Hard Fought Battle Against UT Southern

Pulaski, Tenn. - In a highly competitive regular-season conference volleyball match, the Point University Skyhawks faced a tough defeat against the Tennessee Southern Firehawks on October 10, 2025, at the Curry Athletic Complex, Pulaski, Tenn. The match extended to five sets, showcasing intense plays and individual brilliance, ending with a score of Point 2, Tennessee Southern 3.

The clash commenced with the Skyhawks taking the lead in the first set, winning 25-19, displaying robust attacks and solid defense. However, the Firehawks bounced back in the second set, evening the score by winning 25-18. The Skyhawks regained momentum in the third set, narrowly clinching it with a score of 25-23, owed much to significant contributions from players like Tianna Kynard, who performed exceptionally, delivering multiple kills that turned the tide in favor of Point University.

Despite the initial leads, the match's dynamics shifted considerably in the fourth and fifth sets. Tennessee Southern dominated the fourth set with a score of 25-13 and continued their aggressive gameplay to win the final set 15-13, securing the victory. Notable performances from the Skyhawks included multiple kills from Jasmyn Ceasar and Claire Cordell throughout the game, as well as highlighted defensive plays by Danielle Coker, Kayla Johnson, and Tianna Kynard, who each contributed critical blocks in different sets.

Elissa Robison, Jasmyn Ceasar, and Kayla Johnson were pivotal in defense with their digs, while Lexi Arter and Alayna Helmer boosted the team's score with crucial service aces. Paige Lowe's consistent assists were instrumental across various points of the game, showcasing the team's cooperative spirit and technical skill.

Following this challenging encounter, the Point University Skyhawks look to recalibrate as they prepare to face Blue Mountain in Mississippi on October 11, 2025. Their current season record stands at 15-12 overall, with a 3-6 conference record.
